UNBEARABLE
Unbearable has two shots that required major compositing, four shots featuring Flash animated characters over constructed backgrounds, and begins with a sequence of animated text.

Flaming text

I created the sun and explosion elements in After Effects.
I then made large black images with transparent text to superimpose over the top. I composited them on top of the sun and manipulated them using the Move2D and Blur nodes in Shake.
Missile 1
The original missile footage comes from Youtube. I wanted to emulate the type of hand-held camera, purposefully grained-down action shot you tend to see in recent films, so using footage from Youtube seemed appropriate. I loaded the footage into Flash and drew over the top of the explosions in different colours. I exported the Flash explosions and blurred them in Shake. I painted the background and the ship in Photoshop. I rotoscoped out the missile launcher and the missile, then using Move2D nodes I attempted to partly stabilise the original footage and marry it with the rest of the scene. The bear was animated in Flash. A grain node was applied at the end.
Missile 2
The second missile also comes from Youtube. I painted the missile silo and the foreground, but the purple sky is a high res picture. The bear is a slightly altered version of the bear from the first missile scene. The helicopter is a single image, I animated the blades in Flash. The comp used similar tools to the first: rotoscope, blur, fade, move2d, grain.
Bear conversation and Control Room
The key poses of the characters in both scenes were drawn in Illustrator and animated in Flash. The landscape in front of the three bears is created from three different photos.

The background in the control room is a composite of three different control rooms treated in Photoshop to look green.
